BEFORE YOU ORDER--IMPORTANT COVID-19 ANNOUNCEMENT: In order to allow everyone to practice social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have drastically limited the size of our tours this year. We follow Allegheny County and Pennsylvania COVID guidelines and regulations. Our guides are using microphones so that our guests can spread out and hear the tour.
TO ORDER: GO HERE.
WHERE: Downtown Pittsburgh -- The City-County Building 414 Grant St, Pittsburgh, PA 15219 (at the statue of Mayor Caliguiri). Tours go rain or shine, and we start on time. (Sorry, there are no public restrooms available at the City-County Building at the time we do our tours).
PARKING: Go here. (In addition, there is a large public parking lot directly across the street from the City-County Building.)
ABOUT THE TOUR: Read what the media says about us here. We are the curators of Pittsburgh's nightmares, the archivists of its fears, the trustees of all things that go "bump in the night" in Western Pennsylvania. Come join us on a spine-tingling walking tour through one of America's most haunted neighborhoods. Pittsburgh has a North Side and a South Side, but on this tour, we take you to its dark side.
Haunted Pittsburgh's spell-binding, jam-packed walking jaunt into the city's ghostly, grisly, ghastly past takes you through the heart of it all, downtown Pittsburgh, the "Golden Triangle."
Few towns can match our vibrant heritage. Fewer still can lay claim to a past as spectacularly gruesome. Our Ghost Guide will lead you face-to-face with a number of the actual sites of Pittsburgh's most haunted happenings, including the site where steel magnate Henry Clay Frick's life was spared by a ghost in what might just be the single most important ghost story ever told. You will learn about Pittsburgh history.
This is not a "ghost hunt." We happen to agree with something the famed demonologist Ed Warren (he’s portrayed in the “Conjuring” films) said when he came to Pittsburgh in 1989: "Do not fool around with the occult, do not try to communicate with the dead. You might think you have reached a loved one, but it could be something else, something evil."
And unlike those "other" ghost attractions, this one doesn't pop up around Halloween and disappear until the following year. Most importantly, we happen to think the truth is far more interesting--not to mention much scarier--than anything we could possibly make up. So if you are looking for underpaid actors with fake English accents donning ghoul costumes and telling stories that are obviously made up,then THIS ISN'T THE TOUR FOR YOU. If you get a thrill when zombie-wannabes, bathed in strobe lights and caked in grotesque make-up, jump out at you, THIS ISN'T THE TOUR FOR YOU. If you are pining to see door knockers transform into the face of Jacob Marley, THIS ISN'T THE TOUR FOR YOU.
But if you like creepy stories about the unexplained in Western Pennsylvania that will raise the hair on the back of your neck and leave you feeling a tad uneasy before you shut out the lights to go to sleep, this is the tour for you. We tell good old-fashioned ghost stories, creepy stories, stories that are "meticulously researched, brilliantly crafted, and beautifully told" (post-gazette.com). If you like real ghost stories with a Pittsburgh twist, Haunted Pittsburgh has what you're looking for.
